I’m worried about identity fraud, what safeguards do you use?
We know an awful lot about identity fraud. When the National Consumer Council sought an industry response to the growing problem of identity theft, we responded by launching the National Identity Fraud Assistance Centre, which we fund and operate, together with its supporting website, annualcreditreport.co.uk, which provides UK consumers with free access to online credit reports after a very small one-off signing up fee.
We keep abreast of all identity fraud scams, keep track of identity fraud hotspots, and monitor data breaches. We publish all known scams in our industry acclaimed handbook ‘Identity Theft Prevention and Victim Assistance’, which is regularly updated on the ukidentitytheft.com website. The handbook has been licensed by other identity fraud protection service companies and had been described by a respected professional institute as ‘leaving no stone unturned’.
Identity fraud hotspots are published by us in the Check Your Postcode section on checkmyfile.com.
The latest data breaches, phishing emails and scams are published by us on the homepage of annualcreditreport.co.uk and are posted on Twitter for all interested parties to follow.
We use all of this knowledge to monitor all post received for signs of identity fraud and scams. If we see a scam, we’ll warn you right away, and better than that, we’ll give you expert advice on what to do to next.
You can obtain a free assessment of what to do to improve your defences against identity fraud by using our Identity Theft Expert System.
Armed with all these resources, we believe that we you should have real peace of mind when using ScanMyPost to handle your mail - no one else in the UK is as close to the issue of identity fraud as we are.
