Most website owners know that after registering a domain name, ICANN - the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers - requires the registration company to send your name and address, contact phone number, email address, and the expiry date of your domain name together with the appropriate host name and IP address to WHOIS.
WHOIS then publishes all of these details in its online directory. Anyone can search that directory for free, for any purpose and without your consent.

It is possible in some instances to arrange for your name to be withheld from the record, and some registration companies now offer proxy services, which replace your personal details with that of the registration companies. This is a welcome step forward, but such companies usually charge for every domain name which requires the protection of a proxy address, and if you own more than one URL, that can work out to be a very expensive way of keeping your home address private.

We keep your conventional post for a month then shred it and dispose of the shredded paper confidentially. If you want us to forward the original item, you can ask us to do this for a small packing and administration fee starting at £3.50 plus cost of postage.
