Very Light User Service

Since 1 October 2009, every company director has had the choice of registering either their home address, or a service address, at Companies House.

It’s important that company directors take full advantage of this relaxation, as Companies House sells data including the names and the family home addresses of company directors to anyone who asks, for any purpose. This is unusual in UK law, as the director has not given specific consent for his or her data to be used for any purpose other than for the statutory requirement of registering an address on the records at Companies House.

If you wish to prevent your home address being made available for all to see on the public record, or if you simply wish to improve your privacy, the Very Light User Service is specifically designed to help.

Bearing in mind that the signatures of all company directors are also available for sale by Companies House to anyone that asks, company directors are also much more vulnerable to identity fraud than many others.

For a very affordable £11.50 per year, we will give you an address that you can use at Companies House as your contact address. If any post is received for you at our address, we’ll scan it within 24 hours of receipt, then email or send a text to let you know it has arrived, and you’ll be able to view the item online, anywhere in the World, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you want us to forward the original item, you can ask us to do this for a small packing and administration fee starting at £3.50 plus cost of postage. Otherwise we’ll keep the original for a month, then shred it confidentially and arrange for the shredded paper to be recycled. Or you can ask us to store the original item for you at a cost of 32p per page per month.

Because company directors rarely receive post for company purposes addressed to their ‘home’ address, the £11.50 per year subscription includes 5 page scans – more than enough for most. If we receive more than 5 page scans a year, we charge additional page scans at 32p each.
